This production of Harvey Fierstein's The International Stud is a Mentored Advanced Project (MAP) in affiliation with Grinnell College's Department of Theatre and Dance. Conner Stanfield '21 wanted to use this MAP as an opportunity to develop live theatre in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was drawn to the themes of loneliness and desire for human connection within the play as well as the frank yet nuanced depiction of a gay culture that both mirrors and contradicts contemporary gay culture. To produce the play, he enlisted housemates Audrey Boyle, Ahon Gooptu, and Sophia Schott (all '21), creative collaborators Luca Blankenship '23, Anjali Jain '21, and Lucy Polyak '23, and advisor Craig Quintero.
